Remove trace cation contaminants from eluents using the Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ IonPac™ CTC-1 and Dionex IonPac CTC 500 Cation Trap Columns. These high-capacity, low-efficiency, cation-exchange trap columns are installed in the eluent line after the pump prior to the injection valve to prevent spurious peaks and reduce baseline shifts during gradient chromatography. The Dionex IonPac CTC 500 is identical to the Dionex IonPac CTC-1, but is packed in a column body that is compatible with nonstop operation of high-pressure Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ HPIC™ system pressures up to 5000 psi (34.5 MPa). For Reagent-Free™ ion chromatography (RFIC™) MSA eluent generation applications, use the Dionex CR-CTC.

About Anion Trap Columns

The Dionex IonPac CTC-1 and Dionex IonPac CTC 500 Cation Trap Columns contain microporous cation-exchange resin in the hydronium form. The cation trap columns strip trace cationic contaminants out of the eluent and/or deionized water and prevents them from reaching the guard or analytical columns. Cationic contaminants present on the eluent and/or deionized water often interfere with the precision of trace cation determinations in particular when performing an cation-exchange application that involves a gradient eluent.
