James Ranney is an Applications Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Hillsboro, Oregon. He works with materials science customers in to find the best microscopes, techniques and settings to collect high-quality data that helps answer difficult questions. James started at Thermo Fisher Scientific five years ago as an intern in R&D working with Thermo Scientific™ DualBeam™ systems and now works in the Hillsboro NanoPort on SEM and ESEM technology. James appreciates the opportunity to learn new cutting-edge technologies and enjoys sharing them with customers and colleagues to further our understanding of the natural world. James, an Oregon native, graduated from the University of Oregon with an MS in Chemistry, and he is a firm believer in the power of science to improve our lives.
