High-resolution mass spectrometry coupled to liquid chromatography has become an established key technology for the screening of water quality. However, LC-HRMS measurements still rely on old-fashioned, personnel intensive sample collection and reliable sample preservation. To overcome this, a Thermo Scientific Q Exactive HF mass spectrometer was installed in a mobile trailer with fully automated sample preparation. This webcast will present the technical realization of this transportable LC-HRMS instrument setup aka MS2field. The findings of MS2field feasibility study can be used as a basis for the development of (trans)portable instruments for future environmental applications where assessing dynamics is imperative.
