With Avizo Inspect Software 9.2, XFiber reaches the next level in terms of fibrous data analysis.
The correlation and tracing of center lines modules have been enhanced to dramatically reduce their memory footprint. XFiber has been enriched by a large set of new analysis modules that allow for the computing of advanced statistics on fibrous materials such as composites. These statistics include: fiber's contact points, tortuosity, curved length, cord length, diameter, cross section area and perimeter, local orientation and tensor, density maps, and more. These computed properties can then be used to color map and scale each fiber of the spatial graph.
Fiber's distribution can also be analyzed and plotted (e.g. fiber's diameter distribution). A new display tool allows for the mapping of the orientation distribution of the fibers in 3D. Additionally, the contribution of each sample can be scaled with various properties. A new module allows the conversion of a set of vectors into RGB data. The orientation can then be visualized with techniques such as slicing or volume rendering.
New filtering modules also allow for precisely selecting the set of fibers that makes sense for the analysis (e.g remove fibers touching the borders, remove fibers within a property range, etc.).
Avizo Inspect Software 9.2 introduces a new extension for analyzing porosity. XPoreNetworkModeling allows for characterization and modeling of a set of connected areas, with spheres and lines representing those areas and their connections.
The sphere and line model can be scaled and color mapped with various properties, such as pore equivalent radius, throat channel length, coordination number, etc.), calculated during the network code extraction
A new method has been added to the SeparateObject module. This new method specifically targets the separation of tortuous pore space and the identification of throats.
The model can be filtered to keep pores and throats within a given property range. The user can also interactively highlight a set of pores and throats in the 3D viewer by selecting them in the network code spreadsheet.
Avizo Inspect Software 9.2 integrates a ready-to-use Python distribution including the most used scientific packages from the Python eco-system. This allows the seamless creation of script objects using Python utilities that can later be attached to data objects in the Avizo Inspect Software graphical user interface.

In addition to Python, many enhancements and new modules have been added to the product. First, the new Metrology Workroom with enhanced measures creation, measures sorting and visibility, new location option, new pick geometry tool, and many other enhancements.
Second, the new Recipes Workroom with new Production mode, improved export and result saving management, and more. Then, the properties area of the application now benefits from a port grouping feature, which greatly enhances the product readability.
Additional information has been added to the data properties, such as memory size, preview, and histogram of the data. Many new compute modules have also been added, such as the ability to remove/reduce rings artefact, and measure and correct beam hardening.
Avizo Inspect Software also now benefits from a main memory usage indicator that lets the user track when data should be removed/unloaded from the application.
