Product label statements and brand changes for Gibco products
We are making revisions to our brand name—more for the same quality product.
In the coming year, we will be updating our product label statements and branding on labeling, packaging, certificates, safety data sheets, collateral, and our website for Gibco products. These changes will not impact the form, fit, or function of our Gibco products and other related Bioproduction products. The updates are being made to add clarity based on customer feedback and will not impact how you conduct business with us. The information below offers more details concerning these updates and timelines for the upcoming changes.
What is not changing
These product label statements and brand changes do not change:
- Our products (form, fit, and function)
- Our catalog numbers
- Our manufacturing
- Our formulations
- Our legal entities
- Our online product offerings
- Our website functionality
- Your website login
- Your order process
- Your purchase orders
- Your invoices
- Your pricing
- Your packing slips
- Your shipping or delivery times
- Your intended use statements on custom products (except Sera products)
Where you’ll see the new product label statement
Starting in November 2017, the product label statement on a subset of our “for non-IVD, non-sera Gibco catalog products will begin to switch to “For Research Use or Further Manufacturing. Not for diagnostic use or direct administration into humans or animals.”
Also starting in November 2017, the IVD product intended use statement for all Gibco catalog serum products will be removed. The IVD intended use statement will be replaced with “For Research Use or Further Manufacturing Use only. Serum and blood proteins are not for direct administration into human or animals.” All serum custom products will also begin to use this statement in the effective period.

Where you’ll see new branding
Starting in November 2017, our “Gibco by Life Technologies” logo on product packaging, labels, and supporting documentation will switch to “Gibco” without an endorser logo tagline. The following will be affected by this change:
- Product packaging and labeling
- Shipping boxes
- Documentation and literature
- Certificates of Analysis
- Material Safety Data Sheets
- Collateral and website
